Update May 2023: This line had grown so well into multiple healthy bushy colonies that we selected it for our new transplanting experiment. Half of the fragments were transplanted to the coral bommie near to Castaway in our lagoon and the other half were transplanted out to the drop off of our house reef. The fragments were individually tagged with the letter “A” so we can monitor how well they do in each location over the coming years. Already their survival at the drop off has been incredibly successful, which gives us hope that we can provide lots of new habitat where the reef has suffered from previous bleaching events.
