Coral Line by: Corinne Thomson
Date created: 17 November 2015
Coral Type: Digitate
Coral species: Acropora humilis
Update May, 2021: some of the 18 colonies had fused together because they had grown so much in size! As a result, 7 separate clumps were transplanted to the reef and are now forming a very welcome additional habitat for the marine life in the Maldives. Since this line survived the 2016 mass bleaching event, it made the line particularly important for transplanting back onto the reef since they have a proven higher resilience to environmental stress factors.
