Note: Unfortunately due to this year’s El nino event many of our coral lines have been affected by coral bleaching and many coral fragments have died as a result. For this line, the effects of the warm water were quite severe and resulted in 90% of the fragments dying 🙁 Whilst this is not good news, this data is still really important for our research. The corals that have survived show good potential for building a resilient reef.
At one year we can see the remaining corals growing well. We are really pleased those colonies pulled through, and will play an important role in re-seeding our damaged reef and kick starting recovery for this species, which was wiped out on our reef by the El Nino event.
