Gili stories

The Gili Book of Stories tells the tales of those who have stayed with us, how they arrived as a guest, left as a friend and some returning as family.
I
ROMANCE
Lost in translation

Story of a Japanese couple who came for their honeymoon and got a non-Japanese speaking Friday. Lost in translation because they were not able to speak much English and their Friday was not able to speak Japanese.
However, their Mr. Friday saw how much they enjoyed their stay and decided to decorate the bedroom with romantic set-up one evening. Upon returning to the villa one evening, they were greeted with candles and rose petals all around the villa. The couple was emotional and was really grateful to their Mr. Friday.

OUR LITTLE FRIDAY
Story of Columbus

Father of Columbus is an owner of several hotels and they come every year to Gili since Columbus was a little boy.
Inspired by Gasim, his Mr. Friday, little Columbus requested for his father to get him the day and night Mr. Friday uniform, so that he is able to go around with Gasim to meet guests.
In 2016, his family visited the resort twice, once in April and in December. We had him plan a coconut tree so that it will be one of the Gili Magic Moments for him, and that he will be able to see it whenever he comes back to the resort.
III
FAMILY VACATION
3 Generations

The 3 generations of Foss family came to Gili Lankanfushi for a holiday. First the grandparents came, then it was the parents and now it is the children that came to the resort for their vacation. They were here with us recently and the kids all did their PADI certification at the resort.

NOSTALGIA
33 Years Later

Gary and Tina first visited the island, which was named Hudhuveli back then for their honeymoon celebration, and wanted to revisit the place where they first came to celebrate their love.
Due to the change in ownership and brand over the years, they spent a long time searching for the resort with little hope of ever finding it.

NOSTALGIA
33 Years Later

33 years later with great efforts, Tina found the resort, booked their holiday and came back to the original island to celebrate their anniversary.
The lovely couple spent 10 wonderful days with us creating many Gili Magic moments and now have a Gili story of a lifetime to share.
