Preserving coral reefs is a growing concern in the Maldives.  At Gili Lankanfushi, we are recovering our coral reefs through the Coral lines Project.

Following the mass bleaching event of 2016, it is important to understand what coral bleaching is, and what the consequences are for the reef, as well as for our nursery.

As with any project, we have encountered many challenges during both the planning and operational stages of the project.

Ecological Restoration is the process of assisting the recovery of a damaged, degraded or destroyed ecosystem.

There are many threats facing our coral reefs today. Over fishing of certain keystone species including various commercial fish species and even sharks

The tides are changing here at Gili, as we say goodbye to well-loved faces and welcome new ones.

Of course we were devastated as our incredible 2016 Manta season came to a close, with the last spectacular gathering on our cleaning station coming in on November 23rd, followed by the odd sighting through until December 20th.
