Coral Line by: AU & FA James
Date created: 22 January 2021
Coral Type: Branching
Coral species: Acropora tenuis
2 Year update: WOW! This line is amazing! It is one of our best lines at the moment, with only a few colonies having died. The complex structure has provided a home for hundreds of fish and invertebrates! The line is still in the nursery because we chose to keep all older lines there during the El Nino induced bleaching event in 2016 so as to reduce any extra stress. Your line is one of the few that was not affected, which is fabulous news! The line will be used to help recover our severely damaged reef, and we hope this line will spawn, passing on its resilient genetics to the next generation of corals, making our reef stronger in the future!
Update May, 2021: the colonies from this line have been transplanted onto the reef and now form an integral part of an ecosystem that provides essential functions such as food and habitat for Maldives’ diverse marine life.
