Update, July 2021: this line ended up producing 17 healthy colonies, some of which had fused together since they had grown so large over the years! As can be seen on the image below, the reef inhabitants were quick to check out their home improvements. The corals now form an integral part of the reef ecosystem that provides many functions like food and habitat for the marine species of the Maldives.
